Amigos’ leadership is provided by a small Board of Trustees made up of private, volunteer individuals with an interest in Costa Rica and, specifically, in helping to support charitable causes in Costa Rica.

  • Harry Odio

    President
    Harry Odio

    Harry Odio made a career of offering professional management services to U.S. companies operating in Latin America. He holds an MBA and a BS in Electrical & Mechanical Engineering. Mr. Odio is now retired, but continues to serve as consultant on management projects when he’s not relaxing or spending time in his native Costa Rica. He both serves as Treasurer of Amigos of Costa Rica and sits on CRUSA’s Assembly of Founders, making him an integral facilitator of international cooperation and enthusiastic champion of projects throughout Costa Rica.

  • Dan M. Martin

    Vice President
    Dan M. Martin

    Dan Martin is an experienced international grant-maker, educator and conservationist. His work has included many years of engagement with medical education, liberal arts colleges, nature conservation, sustainable economic development and public policy for education and development assistance. Among his many contributions, he has worked at four private foundations, including the MacArthur Foundation in Chicago and the Moore Foundation in San Francisco. Martin has served on a wide variety of public and non-profit boards and commissions. He is currently a trustee of Knox College, the Phelps Stokes Fund, the Costa Rica-United States Foundation, and the Environmental Film Festival in Washington. He was also a member of the governing Council and a Vice President of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature in Switzerland. Martin was educated at Knox College, earned M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in international politics and political theory at Princeton University, and served as an Intelligence officer in the United States Army.
