About Amigos
Amigos of Costa Rica (Amigos) fulfills its mission by working with trusted partner NGOs in Costa Rica to design and develop projects of critical importance to Costa Rica’s sustainable development. Our parent organization in Costa Rica, the CRUSA Foundation, aids Amigos in selecting high-impact projects that stress cooperation among people and organizations from the U.S., Costa Rica, and beyond. With staff in San José and Washington, D.C., Amigos strives to match its projects to likely institutional and individual supporters and leverage the monetary commitments that the CRUSA Foundation has made to each of these projects.
Established in 2000, Amigos is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization to which contributions are tax-deductible under U.S. law. The organization promotes replicable and exportable projects and the idea that a contribution to our organization is not a static donation, but a dynamic investment in Costa Rica’s communities, the country as a whole, and nations throughout the world that share Costa Rica’s development challenges. We at Amigos have built a growing network of allies enamored of Costa Rica, including Costa Rican expatriates living in the U.S., United States citizens living in Costa Rica, tourists, students, business owners, and environmentalists, and provide them the opportunities and resources they need to support Costa Rica’s sustainable future.
As Amigos’ Costa Rican counterpart, CRUSA has been a trusted leader in the sustainable development of Costa Rica. In its 12 years of operation, CRUSA has supported more than 400 projects in Education, the Environment, Competitive Development, and Science and Technology for at total of over $47 million.
