Sports for Nature, a series of sporting events designed to support environmental organizations in the U.S. and abroad, is helping young entrepreneurs in the Osa Peninsula find sustainable alternatives to environmentally destructive practices. The program’s organizer, Jorge Morera, is a Costa Rican living and working in Virginia who has been collaborating with Amigos to give back to the people of Costa Rica. Mr.

Amigos is helping communities and ecosystems affected by the Jan. 8th earthquake.

Did you know that Costa Rica is a leader in space travel?

In 2007, scientists in Costa Rica set a record by running a plasma rocket engine continuously for more than four hours, a breakthrough in making space travel faster and more cost effective. The effort was led by Costa Rican-born NASA astronaut Franklin Chang-Diaz, a CRUSA Board member and the founder of Costa Rica’s National Center for High Technology. Through these advances, Ad Astra Rocket Company plans to power a trip to Mars by 2027.
