The School that Never Closes!
Projects in Progress: Operación Exito
Operation Success is an interactive math and science curriculum for high school students available 365 days a year, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day through an educational technology application located on the internet. By complementing traditional teaching methods with resources that relate to the modern teen’s digital lifestyle and offering study incentives such a prizes and participation in live, televised competitions, the program motivates kids to acquire knowledge, increase their academic advantage, and broaden their personal and professional horizons.
Already active in five countries, Operation Success was introduced to Costa Rica in 2008 and has already impacted 10,000 9th and 10th grade students in 100 schools throughout the country’s Greater Metropolitan Area. Amigos of Costa Rica is leading efforts to expand the program by providing content to 11th graders, adding an English education component, reaching students in 9 schools in remote areas, and including an additional 40 schools within the metropolitan region.
Through a $300,000 grant toward the pilot program, the CRUSA Foundation has taken steps to combat high secondary school dropout rates and enabled a number of live competitions. Amigos congratulates the winners of the competition: Laura Bonilla, Carlos Rodriguez, Marco Piedra and Veronica Arias.
