Mission to Mars

Did you know that Costa Rica is a leader in space travel?

In 2007, scientists in Costa Rica set a record by running a plasma rocket engine continuously for more than four hours, a breakthrough in making space travel faster and more cost effective. The effort was led by Costa Rican-born NASA astronaut Franklin Chang-Diaz, a CRUSA Board member and the founder of Costa Rica’s National Center for High Technology. Through these advances, Ad Astra Rocket Company plans to power a trip to Mars by 2027.
