Partners: The Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology

The Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology (El Centro de Investigación en Biología Celular y Molecular - CIBCM) of the University of Costa Rica was created in 1977 as a new model for indisciplinary research. The center’s mission it to “Design and promote scientific research and the teaching of cellular and molecular biology through a multidisciplinary focus that contributes to the resolution of social and environmental problems.” CIBCM’s research areas include genetics, environmental microbiology, plant biology, and the description and control of illnesses, plagues, and vectors.
