Cahuita Computer Center

The Cahuita Computer Center was established in 2000 in an abandoned hotel in the province of Limón to provide free access to five computers and the Internet to students from the region’s primary and secondary schools.

The Cahuita project facilitated computer access and training opportunities to primary and secondary schools in Limón and Talamanca, economically disadvantaged areas that had previously been unable to offer its students this type of access to education. To date, more than 50 computer labs housing over 500 computers have been set up in public schools, benefitting nearly 8,000 students each year. The project also encompassed technology training courses for 150 of the region’s teachers.
