Promoting Entrepreneurship and Microcredit in Poor Communities

In many of the poorest communities of Costa Rica, opportunities are rare for hardworking men and women to earn a living – there simply is little credit, financing or support for small businesses entrepreneurs and those who want to invest in their own communities. To address this urgent need, Peace Corps, FINCA, Amigos of Costa Rica and the CRUSA Foundation have partnered to promote sustainable development in these poorest communities of Costa Rica through the creation of Community Credit Enterprises (CCEs). These grassroots microfinance organizations provide financial opportunities to community members for the development of economic activities while at the same time receiving dividends for their investment in the CCE.

Thanks to generous support of our donors and volunteers, more than 200 CCEs now operate in 20 different regions throughout Costa Rica, helping to improve the lives of over 25,000 people who are working tirelessly to rebuild their communities. With your support, we can bring Community Credit Enterprises (CCEs) to more economically disadvantaged areas where community members are desperate to work hard to rebuild their own communities.
