About
Asociación Conservacionista Costas Verdes is a Costa Rican nonprofit restoring coastal forest ecosystems along the country’s Pacific beaches. Founded in 2009, the organization works alongside coastal communities to restore areas historically degraded by human activity through native-species reforestation. Its community-based model combines strategically located nurseries, seed collection, tree planting, maintenance, and long-term monitoring. By engaging schools, volunteers, local organizations, and government institutions, Costas Verdes helps communities take an active role in recovering and protecting the forests that form part of their coastal landscapes.

Current Need
Scaling community-led restoration will allow Costas Verdes to bring native coastal forests back to even more beaches. Its goals include planting 20,000 additional trees, launching projects in 9 new beaches, engaging 7 new schools, and mobilizing 1,500 volunteers. Donations in cash or in kind, volunteer support in reforestation campaigns and nurseries, professional expertise, and strategic partnerships can all help expand this model and ensure newly planted forests receive the care and monitoring they need to thrive.
Growing Stronger Every Year
We’re proud to participate in Amigos of Costa Rica’s Transparency Badge System, which evaluates organizations across three key areas: financial stewardship, governance, and community impact.
Organizations are recognized at four levels of growth: Seed, Sprout, Sapling, and Tree, helping donors better understand each organization’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
The badges displayed below reflect our current achievements and our ongoing commitment to strengthening our organization and maximizing our impact.
