About
The Children’s Eternal Rainforest is Costa Rica’s largest private reserve and a globally recognized conservation success story, made possible through fundraising efforts led by children around the world. Owned and managed by the nonprofit Monteverde Conservation League, the reserve protects 22,600 (56,000 acres) hectares of rainforest and cloud forest that provide critical habitat for wildlife, clean water for communities, and support for local livelihoods. Through environmental education, forest patrols, research, and reforestation initiatives, the Children’s Eternal Rainforest safeguards ecosystems and biodiversity while inspiring future generations to become stewards of the natural world.

Current Need
As the Children’s Eternal Rainforest celebrates 40 years of conservation, continued support is crucial to continue the long-term protection of one of Costa Rica’s most important natural areas. Current priorities include expanding environmental education programs, maintaining forest protection efforts across 22,600 hectares, advancing scientific research, promoting reforestation with native species, and acquiring additional land for conservation. Investments in these initiatives help safeguard biodiversity, strengthen community engagement, and ensure that the Children’s Eternal Rainforest remains protected for generations to come.
