About
Guiare is a Costa Rican nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening public education by supporting teachers and expanding access to quality learning resources. Through evidence-based training in early literacy and mathematics, as well as the creation of welcoming school libraries, the organization helps improve teaching practices and foster a lifelong love of reading among children. Creating welcoming library spaces that expand access to books and encourage a culture of reading.
Current Need
In 2026, Guiare aims to train 600 additional public school teachers and install 5 new libraries in underserved communities across Costa Rica. Continued support will help strengthen instructional practices, increase access to quality learning resources, and expand opportunities for students to develop foundational literacy and math skills. Investments in teacher development and learning environments ensure that more children can access the tools they need to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
Growing Stronger Every Year
We’re proud to participate in Amigos of Costa Rica’s Transparency Badge System, which evaluates organizations across three key areas: financial stewardship, governance, and community impact.
Organizations are recognized at four levels of growth: Seed, Sprout, Sapling, and Tree, helping donors better understand each organization’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
