Giving injured wildlife a safe place to heal and thrive.

About

Sibu Wildlife Sanctuary has protected Costa Rica’s wildlife in Nosara for more than two decades through rescue, rehabilitation, conservation, and education. Today, the sanctuary specializes in long-term care and enrichment for animals that cannot return to the wild due to physical or psychological injuries. Beyond sanctuary care, Sibu works to prevent wildlife electrocutions, reconnect fragmented habitats through aerial monkey bridges, and raise awareness about the challenges local species face, helping create a safer environment where wildlife and communities can coexist.

Current Need

Preventing wildlife injuries before they happen is a growing priority for Sibu. The sanctuary aims to reduce electrocutions across Nosara and surrounding communities through education, public awareness, advocacy, and continued collaboration with initiatives such as the Nosara Monkey Bridge Program and Howler Protectors. Donations, sanctuary visits, local volunteers, and community partnerships also help sustain the lifelong care of injured animals while expanding solutions that make the landscape safer for Costa Rica’s wildlife.

Growing Stronger Every Year

We’re proud to participate in Amigos of Costa Rica’s Transparency Badge System, which evaluates organizations across three key areas: financial stewardship, governance, and community impact.
