About
The Rivers and Forests Alliance is dedicated to protecting the Pacuare River Basin, one of Costa Rica’s last large free-flowing rivers and a vital refuge for wildlife and indigenous communities. Through reforestation, habitat restoration, water quality monitoring, and environmental education, the organization works to safeguard the region’s forests, rivers, and biodiversity. Its initiatives support endangered species, strengthen biological connectivity, and promote sustainable practices in partnership with local communities and ecotourism businesses. By bringing together key stakeholders, the Alliance helps ensure a healthy future for the Pacuare River and its surrounding ecosystems.

Current Need
The Rivers and Forests Alliance is working to secure permanent legal protection for the Pacuare River while expanding conservation, research, and education initiatives throughout the basin. Support is needed to advance reforestation efforts, strengthen scientific studies, and continue environmental education programs with local communities and partners. Contributions also help raise public awareness about the proposed legislation to protect the river from future threats, ensuring the long-term health of the Pacuare River’s forests, wildlife, and water resources.
