About
Tirimbina is a nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving tropical rainforest through scientific research, environmental education, and sustainable ecotourism. Since 1999, the organization has protected 345 hectares of rainforest in Costa Rica while creating opportunities for people of all ages to connect with nature and learn about biodiversity. Current Need
Tirimbina is committed to strengthening its conservation, research, and environmental education programs while ensuring that future generations can continue benefiting from its protected rainforest. A key priority is the renovation of the suspension bridge that connects the organization’s facilities and neighboring communities across the Sarapiquí River. This investment will improve safety, accessibility, and the continuity of educational, scientific, and community activities that support both biodiversity conservation and local wellbeing.
Growing Stronger Every Year
We’re proud to participate in Amigos of Costa Rica’s Transparency Badge System, which evaluates organizations across three key areas: financial stewardship, governance, and community impact.
Organizations are recognized at four levels of growth: Seed, Sprout, Sapling, and Tree, helping donors better understand each organization’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
The badges displayed below reflect our current achievements and our ongoing commitment to strengthening our organization and maximizing our impact.
