Communication that turns voices into collective action.

About

Asociación Voces Nuestras, Centro de Comunicación Educativa has used communication as a tool for social transformation across Mesoamerica since 1989. Through multimedia production, popular education, research, historical memory, training, and advocacy, the organization amplifies voices and strengthens geographic and identity-based communities. Its work advances the rights of girls, youth, women, Indigenous peoples, and rural communities, addressing issues such as sexual violence, emancipatory menstrual education, territorial autonomy, and access to reliable information.

Programs

Community-Led Media

Works with correspondents across Mesoamerica to produce informative content that amplifies local voices, struggles, and territorial perspectives.

Voces Libres

Supports a national movement led by survivors of childhood sexual violence, strengthening advocacy, visibility, and collective action.

Education, Memory & Rights

Advances Indigenous historical memory, territorial autonomy, and emancipatory menstrual education through educational tools and community processes.

Current Need

Expanding the reach of community voices is central to Voces Nuestras’ next stage of work. Priorities include strengthening its Informativo Mesoamericano, supporting the Voces Libres movement, expanding emancipatory menstrual education in underserved territories, and increasing public advocacy. The organization also aims for at least five additional municipalities to adopt declarations against sexual violence toward children and adolescents. Donations, content sharing, and participation in campaigns and activities can help these initiatives reach more communities across the region.

Growing Stronger Every Year

We’re proud to participate in Amigos of Costa Rica’s Transparency Badge System, which evaluates organizations across three key areas: financial stewardship, governance, and community impact.

Organizations are recognized at four levels of growth: Seed, Sprout, Sapling, and Tree, helping donors better understand each organization’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.

The badges displayed below reflect our current achievements and our ongoing commitment to strengthening our organization and maximizing our impact.
