About
Costa Rican Conservation Foundation (FCC/CRCF) is dedicated to restoring and protecting forest habitat along Costa Rica’s Pacific slope. Since 1998, the organization has combined ecological research with hands-on conservation through native tree restoration, wildlife refuges, ecological easements, and community collaboration. Working with landowners and conservation partners, FCC/CRCF helps regenerate forests, protect water resources, support wildlife corridors, and rebuild healthy ecosystems while generating research that improves long-term tropical forest restoration practices.

Programs
Forest Restoration & Protection
Restores and protects native forests through tree planting, land conservation, wildlife refuges, and ecological easements.
Tropical Forest Restoration Research
Studies restored forests to understand recovery, ecosystem services, and effective methods for long-term tropical forest regeneration.
ProNativas
Promotes native plants in gardens and landscapes to create habitat and support local pollinators.
Current Need
Growing healthy forests requires both long-term restoration and continued collaboration with local landowners. FCC/CRCF aims to distribute 15,000+ native trees, strengthen private-land protection through ecological easements, maintain restored areas, and continue research on forest recovery and restoration methods. Financial support helps produce native seedlings that are donated to local residents, with one tree planted for every $2 donated, while research and equipment contributions help expand the scientific foundation behind this conservation work.
Growing Stronger Every Year
We’re proud to participate in Amigos of Costa Rica’s Transparency Badge System, which evaluates organizations across three key areas: financial stewardship, governance, and community impact.
Organizations are recognized at four levels of growth: Seed, Sprout, Sapling, and Tree, helping donors better understand each organization’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
The badges displayed below reflect our current achievements and our ongoing commitment to strengthening our organization and maximizing our impact.
