About
Costa Rican Humanitarian Foundation (CRHF) works to improve the quality of life of vulnerable populations across Costa Rica. Founded in 1997, the Foundation manages more than 50 volunteer projects focused on education, community development, primary and preventive health care, and support for women, at-risk youth, seniors, and Indigenous communities. Its development model begins by listening to communities and addressing locally identified needs, from food, water, housing, and health to education, skills development, and economic opportunities that help individuals and communities build greater self-sufficiency.

Current Need
Expanding opportunities in communities where progress remains uneven is a key priority for CRHF. The Foundation aims to grow its My Book is My Friend literacy initiative and technology programs in computing and robotics, while strengthening education and employability pathways that help prevent youth involvement in crime. Additional priorities include creating income opportunities for seniors and continuing support for Indigenous communities. Donations, volunteers, and greater awareness can help sustain these locally driven programs and extend their reach across Costa Rica.
Growing Stronger Every Year
We’re proud to participate in Amigos of Costa Rica’s Transparency Badge System, which evaluates organizations across three key areas: financial stewardship, governance, and community impact.
Organizations are recognized at four levels of growth: Seed, Sprout, Sapling, and Tree, helping donors better understand each organization’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
The badges displayed below reflect our current achievements and our ongoing commitment to strengthening our organization and maximizing our impact.
