About
Nosara Animal Care (NAC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing animal suffering and promoting welfare, compassion, and responsible pet ownership throughout the Nosara community. Through spay and neuter clinics, veterinary assistance, foster care, rehabilitation, and adoption programs, NAC supports vulnerable dogs and cats while helping prevent animal overpopulation. The organization also works with local schools and families to promote responsible pet care, combining education and direct assistance to create lasting improvements in the lives of animals and the community that cares for them.

Current Need
Every animal placed in a safe home creates space to help another in need. NAC aims to spay and neuter 500 animals, place 100 dogs and cats in permanent homes, and maintain foster care for dozens of vulnerable animals. Financial contributions help sustain veterinary care and essential services, while foster families and volunteers are needed to provide temporary homes, support adoption efforts at community events, and help identify animals that need assistance.
Growing Stronger Every Year
We’re proud to participate in Amigos of Costa Rica’s Transparency Badge System, which evaluates organizations across three key areas: financial stewardship, governance, and community impact.
Organizations are recognized at four levels of growth: Seed, Sprout, Sapling, and Tree, helping donors better understand each organization’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
The badges displayed below reflect our current achievements and our ongoing commitment to strengthening our organization and maximizing our impact.
