About
Pura Vida Dragon Rosa is Costa Rica’s first dragon boat team for female cancer survivors, dedicated to promoting wellness, strength, and connection through sport and community. Founded in 2024, the organization brings together women from across the country who have experienced different types of cancer and are seeking an active, supportive path forward. As part of a global network of breast cancer survivor dragon boat teams, Pura Vida Dragon Rosa provides opportunities for physical activity, emotional wellbeing, and meaningful peer support. Through teamwork and shared experiences, members rediscover confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging beyond diagnosis.

Current Need
As participation continues to grow, Pura Vida Dragon Rosa is investing in the infrastructure and resources needed to support more cancer survivors through dragon boating. Key priorities include securing dedicated storage for the team’s boat and equipment, strengthening operational capacity, and expanding outreach efforts to women navigating cancer treatment and recovery. Support will also help bring together healthcare professionals through a national conference designed to increase awareness of the physical and emotional benefits of dragon boating as part of survivorship and wellness.
