In the mountains of Costa Rica, at the edge of Chirripó National Park, a community has been building something for generations. We are the Asociación de Desarrollo Integral de Canaan, neighbors organizing for neighbors, rooted in this land and committed to everyone who calls it home.
We build the spaces where community happens. We teach children to love and protect the forest surrounding them. We invest in young people so they have real reasons to stay. We stand beside our most vulnerable, the elderly, the families stretched thin, the ones who need a hand. And we carry forward the culture and identity that make Canaan worth preserving.
This is not charity work. It is a community taking care of itself and asking you to be part of it.
Your support goes directly to the people and projects that make life here better, fuller, and more dignified. One hall, one lesson, one young person with a future they can believe in. That is how lasting change is built.
We would be honored to have you with us.
1. Community Capacity-Building & Empowerment
Canaan is made of people, women who organize, young people who lead, farmers who innovate, and neighbors who show up for each other. This program strengthens the groups that hold community life together: youth organizations, women's collectives, sports clubs, cultural groups, and producer associations. We invest in training, leadership, and the connections between people, because a community that knows how to work together can solve almost anything.
2. Los Ángeles Multipurpose Hall Construction
The community of Los Ángeles has been building this hall with their own hands and their own savings, through fundraisers, concerts, and the quiet determination of families who believe their community deserves a place to gather. The 600 m² hall will be a permanent home for sports, cultural events, celebrations, and community life, open to everyone, every age, every generation. Your support finishes what this community started.
3. Community Development & Watershed Stewardship
Canaan sits inside one of the most ecologically significant landscapes in Central America, the Chirripó River watershed, at the edge of Costa Rica's highest national park. This program is how we take care of both the land and the people who live on it. We support children's education, vocational training for adults, regenerative agriculture for local farmers, reforestation, biodiversity conservation, and community-rooted ecotourism. Every project here starts with a simple belief: when people thrive, the land thrives with them.
