About Us

ASANA means Asociación Amigos de la Naturaleza del Pacífico Central y Sur (Friends of Nature of the Central and Southern Pacific Coast), Costa Rica. We work in the conservation field implementing and supporting programs to preserve and restore nature. We aim to work with local communities to empower them and raise awareness on the most pressing issues, organize local management comittees, explore community-based sustainable development alternatives, and conserve flora, fauna, habitats and ecological processes of the Path of the Tapir and Savegre Biosphere Reserve.

ASANA is a local non-profit NGO founded in 1998 with the goal of fighting environmental crimes in the central and south Pacific areas. Its main objective is to work with local communities to empower them and create awareness about existing issues. Consequently, it leads to the organization of local committees, exploring community-based sustainable development alternatives and the conservation of flora and fauna. One of their main goals is to protect the habitats and ecological processes of the “Paso de la Danta” biological corridor and Savegre Biosphere Reserve.
