Nosara

Nosara harbors a vast community of individuals who subscribe to the notion that life must be fully-lived through awareness, expression and balance. With its rapid growth and influx of international residents, Nosara continues to experience tremendous social, cultural and environmental issues that are creating tension and inherent gaps in the community at large.

The mission of NOCA | Nosara Community for the Arts is to provide opportunities for both the local Ticos community and community of expats to come together through a series of art programs and activities designed to:

  1. Encourage the cross-cultural collaborations amongst the people of Nosara;
  2. Stimulate creative thinking through multi-disciplinary arts; and
  3. Achieve a greater awareness of the region’s sensitive natural environment.

This past October 2019, NOCA and No. 9: The Culture of Sustainability (based in Toronto, Canada) hosted a 5-day program involving 28 local and international students from Colegio Bocas de Nosara and Del Mar Academy.

The program’s goal was to foster cross-cultural collaboration, getting the students to design and create a 3-D scaled model of their creative vision for the Nosara Sustainability Centre, a project sponsored by the Guanacaste Community Fund and present their vision to family and community leaders.

NOCA continues to develop and support programs that bring the community together and promote creative thinking and environmental awareness.
