We are committed to supporting girl’s and women’s empowerment through soccer and other healthy activities in Costa Rica, particularly in the rural areas of the Southern Pacific zone of Costa Rica.

We are committed to supporting girl’s and women’s empowerment through soccer and other healthy activities in Costa Rica, particularly in the rural areas of the Southern Pacific zone of Costa Rica.
The 4 broad goals of the organization are to:
1) Support the expansion of girl’s access to soccer practice and games.
2) Develop empowerment and health classes for girls in a safe space.
3) Improve community sports fields and access to sports equipment.
4) Support a network of girls’ soccer teams in Costa Rica.
Support the first and only local all-girls soccer team!
Costa Rica's first all-girls soccer academy for ages 6 to 16 began in Uvita in August 2021, growing from 10 to over 75 participants! This all-girls soccer academy provides fun soccer practices every week and an opportunity to play on a competitive team.
Essential to its success, is making it affordable for the girls to regularly participate in weekly practices and to play in games. This means the participation fee cannot exceed $2 per practice for each girl, and ideally otherwise operates on donations. Donations go to field rental, practice equipment, uniforms, paying local women to coach, and travel expenses. The program provides scholarships and soccer equipment to players who are in need.
The program primarily uses a local synthetic field for practices, and if weather permits, they also use the Uvita Plaza near the local high school (an outdoor grass field). Both fields require a rental fee to reserve and use for practices and games.
So far, the girls have played in several competitive games throughout the Southern Pacific zone, including in San Vito (for the first All Girls Tournament), Palmar Norte, Jacó, Quepos, Uvita, and Ojochal.
Support health programming to foster empowerment and field trips for local girls!
Goals 4 Chicas works with the La Costa Chicas Fútbol Club to provide fun active opportunities beyond soccer for local girls, including field trips and seminars (see photos).
Support the development of a sports and events complex in Uvita!
Goals 4 Chicas has been working closely with the Uvita Sports Committee and the Uvita Elementary School to upgrade the soccer field in Uvita near the Community Center. Right now, playing soccer outdoors is limited to certain times of day, due to not having lights and not having proper facilities. So far, there has been considerable progress from volunteers who have designed and priced the construction of bleachers, bathrooms, team benches, soccer goals, and lights. Goals 4 Chicas has already helped fund the construction of 4 additional soccer goals and for field maintenance with more updates on the way!
These upgrades will allow the space to also be used for community gatherings, and to invite others to visit the area and participate in tournaments and community activities that will bring both awareness and additional funds to the local community.

- Synthetic Field Rental Fee - practices 4 hours a week @7,500 colones an hour

- Coaches Compensation - two coaches for practices and travel @20,000 colones a week per
