AcciónArte was born in response to the concerns of a group of Costa Ricans involved in art and education, who join their efforts with several national and international organizations to promote new methods of education, and integrate them into the education system of public and private schools in Costa Rica.

The association is the promoter in Costa Rica of the Piensa en Arte program: an education initiative that uses art directly in the classroom as a pedagogical tool for the development of critical thinking, observation skills, analysis, appreciation of the arts and values as Respect and tolerance.

As of April 2007, AcciónArte, the Ministry of Public Education, the Ministry of Culture and Youth and the Cisneros Foundation sign a co-production agreement for the application of Piensa en Arte, as part of the curriculum education of public and private schools and colleges in Costa Rica, and thus foster the t cultural ransversality.

Another initiative promoted by AcciónArte is the Exploration and Visual Thought workshops. In these, a visual thinking technique is used that promotes the development of skills for assertive communication, such as sharpening observation and active listening and motivating effective verbalization of ideas, which facilitates the exchange of critical information. Art is a vehicle for the development of soft skills necessary for teamwork and democratic coexistence. They are aimed at populations as diverse as groups of communities at social risk, officials of private companies, college and university students, private groups. etc.

----
